Forest Park Road Work-Elbert Co Road Dept

Published Aug 13, 2009

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I wanted to pass on some really good news for our community, OUR ROADS WILL BE FIXED!

I just finished a phone conversation with "Jim"-Foreman for the project with Elbert County Road Department, he advised that the letters I had written to the Commissioners and the Road Dept on behalf of our community and home owners pushed the project. So I will send a written thank you to the Road Dept and the Commissioner upon the completion of the work.

Jim advised starting tomorrow Friday, August 14, 2009 the Elbert Co Road Dept. will start working from Ash Terrace to HWY 86. They will aslo work on the area of the nature spring just south of the mailbox area.

Going forward on every Friday the road department will return to work on another section of the project. The following procedures will be done to transform our roads.

1. Forest Park road will be narrowed from the 30 plus feet back to 28 feet.

2. New ditches will be cut in with the narrowing and to fix the flow issues.

3. The roads will be crowned correctly to help prevent the current issues with the heavy rains and the wash out of our roads and driveways.

4. The road department will also check the culverts at your driveway location to see if they need to be flushed or any other issues.

Most of the repair work will be from Pinon to HWY 86. They feel the work required north of Pinon (Forest Park and Ash Place) will take only one to two days.

** There will be no chemical agents sprayed on the roadways this year due to budget constraints. This will be something we will work toward for 2010. Hopefully with the road repair the correct way we will not need this process.**

Keep an eye out for the workers and their equipment on the roadways for their safety and for yours during this process period.

If you have any question please let us know and we will do what we can to get the correct information back to you.

Dave Burnett and I were planning on attending the Commissioners meeting on August 26, 2009 to have our concerns voiced again and to see if anyone was listening to our pleas to repair our roads. We will now attend to thank them or voice concerns if any arise from the pending project.

Thank you Dave for the call today and to Ed Ehmann-Superintendent Elbert Co Road/Bridge Dept and Commissioner John Shipper for listening to my phone calls and letters. Thanks to all of you, our home owners for the emails and or phone calls regarding our road and for giving me the time to work with the county departments for a great resolve.

Enjoy the rest of your summer and hope to see many of you at the community BBQ this Saturday at the Rambler Ranch.

Julie A. Proffitt-President Forest Park HOA
