2009 Forest Park Community BBQ at the Rambler Ranch

Published Sep 02, 2009

I would like to start off with a big Thank You to our host Mr. Terry Gale for having a wonderful vision and property that he shares with the public.

The weather was perfect (just a few minutes of rain/thunder and real close lighting) and a great place to relax and enjoy the fantastic home owners of Forest Park.

The home owners and their extended family and friends enjoyed a wonderful experience at the Rambler Ranch. The Rambler Ranch is 162 acres nestled in the pines just outside of Elizabeth and just around the corner from Forest Park. .The facilities provided hours of amusement for all ages that attended. There was the American Motor Company vehicles from many years past with the non stop memorabilia to the period dressing of the mannequins’ throughout the location. The 50’s style Diner with perfect period materials, the newly constructed period Gas Station building that will be the new gift shop to the fantastic picnic/BBQ area.  Our host provided the water, fresh lemonade, sodas and ice. Our home owners each brought a side dish or dessert to go with the hamburger, hotdogs and of course the veggie burgers.

Thank you to our newest Forest Park families for joining us on August 15th, to the many home owners that returned this year for a afternoon of enjoyment and to the families that could not make it this year, we will see you next year.

Please enjoy the numerous pictures from the BBQ in the Gallery section of the website. I would like to thank Jeff and Wendy Frenzel for the service the provided each year to our association, to the materials they provide at our BBQ and for the great pictures on our website from the BBQ. I do want to say thou TURN THE OTHER WAY when you see Jeff Frenzel walking toward you with a camera. It will not be a Kodiak moment more like Candid Camera.

Thanks again everyone for being a part of our great community.

(Please see in the Directory section of the website contact information to the Rambler Ranch if you are interested in a group event at a wonderful location)

Update on Forest Park Road Work

Published Sep 02, 2009

As you can see the road work at Forest Park Community is close to being completed. Truck loads of soft silt sand was hauled away, new dirt brought in, watered down and rolled, ditch work, culverts flushed and fixed as well as the road crowned to help with the directional flow of the water.

Originally the work was to be done on Fridays of each week and then grew into almost a Monday to Friday schedule. If you have any concerns about the work near your residence please let your board know as soon as possible.

I will draft a thank you to the Commissioners as well as the Elbert County Road Department to thank them for listening to our concerns and troubles we have had over the past few years with our road being graded flat.

A thank you goes out to all involved in our road project.

Commissioner: John Shipper for talking the time to talk to me and for forwarding my emails to the BOCC to reach a resolve

Elbert County Superintendent Bridge/Roads: Ed Ehmann for coming into his new position with a very positive attitude and the willingness to get things done correctly.

Elbert County Bridge/Road Foreman: Foreman's Carol Farr and Jimmy McMcain

Road Crew: Doug Zion, Troy Alexander, Bill Bertot, Bill Hendriz, Nat Cown, Mike Cown, Larry Underwood, Jimmy Pettit, Dan Kelly, Brad Chambers, Gary Corners and Ken Denson.

Also a big thank you to Lynn at the Road Dept. for always willing to help me out with information and her non stop great personalitiy.

Julie Proffitt-President FPHOA
